Canoe Wales is delighted that various relaxations of restrictions were brought forward by the Welsh Government on 8 April - and then on 22 April - including organised outdoor activities for up to 30 people to 26 April (previously 3 May) and the opening of leisure centres - including swimming pools - to 3 May (previously 10 May).
Alistair Dickson, Canoe Wales CEO, comments:
"We welcome Welsh Government’s reconsideration of the timeline for the return to outdoor activity. This has undoubtedly been influenced by the work of the Welsh Sports Association who have advocated on the behalf of Canoe Wales and the broader sport sector in Wales. We will continue to urge Welsh Government to prioritise the return of outdoor sport due to the many positive physical and mental benefits activities like paddling provide, along with its low rates of transmission."
To keep things simple, here's our roadmap for a return to paddling in Wales in 2021 - see the infographic opposite (below if you're on a mobile device) or click here. Dates are subject to public health conditions remaining favourable, and will be updated as necessary following Welsh Government reviews.
